Buildings cannot be promoted as having achieved a Green Globes rating until the information submitted has been assessed by a qualified third party. If your building is on target to achieve 35% or more of the 1000 points possible and you would like to begin the third-party assessment process, please contact info@thegbi.org.
By having a GBI-authorized third-party assessment that your property has achieved the percentage of points indicated through your use of the on-line Green Globes tool, you add credibility—in the market, the community, and among occupants and tenants. Only design and delivery processes that achieve a score of 35% or more out of 1000 total points are eligible to receive a Green Globes™ rating, which ranges from one to four globes (see below). Following third-party assessment, certified buildings receive a plaque and are entitled to publicize their achievement.
The Green Globes™ system is questionnaire-driven. At each stage of the design and delivery process, users are walked through a logical sequence of questions that guide their next steps and provide guidance for integrating important elements of sustainability. The construction documents questionnaire within the Green Globes-New Construction tool is the basis for the rating system and the online system helps users to calculate their progress in achieving the required percentage of points (35% out of 1000 is the minimum needed for recognition). To fully benefit from the revolutionary value-added assistance features of the system—and to obtain a preliminary self-assessment of your building—we recommend registering your building at Use Green Globes and completing the preliminary and subsequent questionnaires.
Buildings cannot be promoted as having achieved a Green Globes rating until a GBI-authorized third-party assessment takes place. This third-party assessment process takes place in two stages and is conducted by a qualified practitioner and building sciences professional. The first stage includes a review of the Construction Documents developed through the design and delivery process. The second stage includes a walk-through of the building post-construction.
